You also use short-term memory because your brain will only keep this piece of memory in your brain for a small period of time. By hearing the same sounds and lights, it’s helping you keep that information in. Retroactive interference would stop yo, essentially, from winning the game. This means that later learning impairs memory from information learned earlier. For the game, Taboo, you’re using to organizational encoding to help you play. You have to be able to get your teammates to know the word, you're supposed to say, without you saying or without using certain words or phrases. You use long-term memory to help you figure out what words you can use. One of the seven sins of memory that would stop you from winning the game is blocking. Blocking is a failure to retrieve information that is available in memory, even though you are trying to produce it. (Schacter, et al. 186)
