The idea behind group homework is that members will thoroughly discuss and analyze the problems, using each other as effective problem solvers. Groups will NOT be assigned by the instructor; instead they will be formed by the students. Groups can be any size, up to a maximum of 3 people. Copying someone else’s work: Individual Homework must reflect your own individual work. As such, it must be entirely your own work. Copying any part of a homework will be considered academic misconduct. Refer to the UBC Calendar for a more detailed discussion of academic misconduct. Homework solutions will be posted shortly after the due date on the C290 Course web page. 7. REPORTS TO MANAGEMENT Some homework assignments include questions which must be answered in a Report to Management format. An example of this format will be included in the first homework assignment requiring a Report to Management. 8. ANSWERS TO PROBLEMS IN THE TEXT Note that the text contains plenty of extra problems for practice, and answers to selected problems will be available during your Professor’s and the Grader Manager’s office hours. For copyright reasons, textbook solutions cannot be posted on the course website. 9. EXAM and Excel QUIZ INFORMATION (See also Section 5 above) Excel Quiz: October 13 – 15, 2010 during regularly scheduled labs Midterm Exam: Friday, October 22, 2010: 6:30 to 8:00pm Final Exam: See Final Exam Schedule for date. Notes: 1. The Midterm and Final exams will be common for all sections of the course . Both exams will be closed book, closed notes. Only non-graphing calculators will be allowed. Students are responsible for all the assigned readings from the textbook. 2. The Midterm Exam covers all the material up to the midterm. The Final Exam is 2.5 hours, and covers all the material after the midterm and some of the material covered prior to the Midterm Exam. 3. The Midterm Exam is scheduled for Friday, October 22 , 6:30 - 8:00 PM. All students will write at the same nd time in rooms to be announced in class. Students with UBC course conflicts must send an e-mail before October 1st to [email protected] and include a timetable attachment downloaded from the web. See the paragraph after part (I) below for details. 4. The Excel Quiz will be completed during your regularly scheduled Excel Lab during the week of October 13 - 15 . th

Page 4 of 8 . Some Useful Information regarding the Midterm and Final Exams: A. Be prepared to identify yourself during exams with your AMS Library Card. B. Cell phones must be turned off and are not permitted to be in view or be used as a watch during this exam. C. Bring a calculator. Non- graphing, non-programmable calculators are permitted (graphing calculators like the TI 83 etc are not permitted). D. The doors to the exams will open approximately ten minutes before the start of the exam E. In accordance with UBC Policy, no one will be allowed to leave the room within the first 30 minutes of the exam nor enter the exam later than 30 minutes after the start of the exam.
