year based on your personal goals. You will be required to attend two meetings, once at the beginningof the semester and then toward the end as the course is winding down. These meetings will also beconducted through Microsoft TEAMS.New Cards Navigator Modules (10 points each for30pointstotal)You will complete the three New Cards Navigator modules in Blackboard. The modules serve as a guideto specific areas of importance to first-year students at UofL. A score of70%on each module is requiredto be considered passing and earn points for module completion.SafeColleges Title IX Training (10 points)UofL is committed to keeping the health and well-being of the campus community in the forefront of ourthinking and this training is in line with that commitment. Additionally, the University is required byfederal law, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), to provide “primary prevention and awarenessprograms for all incoming students.” The University utilizes curriculum provided by VectorSolutions/SafeColleges to meet the training requirements of the law. For this course, you are required tocomplete this training and submit your completion certificate to your instructor. You may complete thetraining here:or find it under your Tasks Tile in ULink.Culminating GEN 101 Essay (60 points)The culminating project for GEN 101 will be a reflection paper based on the four Guiding Questions ofthe course (see page 1). The assignment is available on Blackboard. Respond to each Guiding Question.There are sub-questions to guide your thinking/writing. For the sub-questions that speak the most toyou, provide a depth to your response. There is no specific format for this essay, but it should beapproximately 2-3 pages (typed, double spaced, Times New Roman, 1-in. margins) and free ofgrammatical and spelling errors. A suggested, but not required, outline is six paragraphs: introductoryparagraph, one paragraph per guiding question, and a concluding paragraph.Overall Participation and Class Engagement (150 points)Your participation is required as a member of this class. Your learning will be enhanced through activeclass discussion and participation. There will be a variety of in-class activities that will add to yourparticipation points. It is your responsibilityto log on to Blackboard several times per week to checkyour syllabus, complete modules and assignments, and get insight for future assignments.
