“These individuals are also prone to mood disorders such as depressions, anxiety, bipolar disorder” (DeLisi,2013). Under the antisocial personality disorder, it was discovered that CharlesManson was also suffering from bipolar disorder. How one distinguishes that an individual suffers from bipolar disorder is because it’s obviously clearly pronounced through tremendous amounts of fluctuations in their moods. “Individuals may experience high levels of euphoria, followed by episodes of major depression, accompanied by changes in personality and behavior”(Gooding, Wolford & Gooding). There’s another theory that’s used regarding help explain the mind of Charles Manson, and that’s known as behavioral theory. Why one would suggest behavior theory is because of in the past, it was the crimes that Manson had committed states that “said behavior can’t be reversed; unless a person wants to change, however, if they choose not to

CHARLES MANSON8change, they will continue to commit crimes” (Mosser). With, Charles Manson made the decision no to change his ways and behavior. What he did instead was that he decided to fully open his arms and embrace the burning desire to commit murder and rob other individuals of their worthy possessions. The key here though, is he didn’t initially do the dirty work, he’d get others, meaning his “family” to steal and kill for him. It was July 1969, when Charles Manson and his “family” committed the act of murder bykilling Gary Hinman. It’s said that there’s been other killings before, but it hasn’t been able to be proven. Gary Hinman lived in Malibu, California and he was a thirty-four-year-old music teacher. “It was apparent that Hinman at one time or another was connected with Manson and some of the “family” members. The motive behind Gary Hinman’s murder was robbery” (Atchinson & Heide). The story behind this is because at one time Manson had pulled a scam over Bernard Crowe and shot him under false pretenses. When Charles Manson shot Bernard Crowe, he found out that he was in with the Black Panthers and he was afraid that they would come after him and his “family”; therefore, he packed up and moved him and the “family” to a new place and location and was in desperate need of money. Gary Hinman was fixing to come into a ton of money and Charles Manson had found this out; so therefore, Manson had orchestrated a scheme and send some of his “family” members to rob him. When the “family” broke in and robbed Hinman, he was not cooperating with them at all. They ended up holding him hostage for several days until Manson showed up. When Manson showed up, he came with asword that was used to slash Hinman’s left ear. In the end, it was Bobby Beausolei who deliveredthe final stab to Hinman in the chest twice. “On Hinman’s living room wall was written in blood “Political Piggy”, along with a sketch of an animal’s paw print, drawn in blood by one of the attackers” (Bugliosi & Gentry).
