Using a centralized server makes managing access more simple. Chapter 3 of the e-book made mention the example of one administrator managing 10 different routers which if configured using users and passwords on all of them would make for a rough day on the job compared to centralized authentication server (ACS). Keep in mind that these routers may be in different floors, buildings, or even cities making it more interesting if you had to physically interact with them. 21. Contrast local authentication and local authentication with AAA. Both accomplish the authentication and authorization aspect of AAA but only local authentication with AAA includes the accounting aspect. 22. Based on the Academy online course content, web research, and the use of RADIUS in this lab, compare and contrast RADIUS with TACACS+. Both protocols provide AAA services according to e-book Chapter 3. The difference is that TACACS+ is a Cisco proprietary, which means that TACACS+ works primarily with Cisco routers etc. RADIUS “is an open standard which means that not only ACS supports it but also other vendors’”(Santos, 2017).

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
