For my preschool class, I want to use the concept, Understand Change in my lessons. First, I will set up a short video that will show different weather climates. I want us to sit together
3 and watch the video during circle time. I will have different items on a table that can be used for different weather conditions such as: a rain coat, sun glasses, a big puffy coat, a light sweater, rain boots, a visor, gloves, and a jacket. I will ask the children to pay attention to the several items people use for the different seasons of the year. Then, after the video, I will ask the children to grab one item that they think goes with the season I choose to describe. I will choose one child at a time and pick the same weather several times to get a different answer from different children. I want them to be able to match the items correctly with the season I choose. Therefore, if I say its raining outside, one child might pick the rain boots, and another might pick the rain coat to demonstrate they have a clear understanding. Next, I will choose for the children to work in teams to watch a flower grow on a tablet. The app on the tablet will have the children show what the flower needs to grow as a small clip. Then, the children must help each other figure out the steps to make the flower. It will start by dragging the seeds to the dirt, then, watering the seeds with a water pot. Additionally, the app will show if the seeds need a sun or a moon to help it grow. Next, the children will be able to click on the water pot to keep helping it grow and the sun. Then, they will be able to see the flower flourish from the ground. We will all meet back together for a group discussion to see if anyone notice the change in their flowers and what was needed for the flower to help it grow. Finally, the last activity I want my preschool class to do to understand the concept of Understanding Change is drawing on the tablets with colors. I will let them work in pairs to draw lines with a paint brush on the tablet. Also, I will have different paints on a table to use as references after the are finish drawing their lines on the tablet with different colors. I want them
