FUTURE SCOPE, ROLE, AND PROFESSIONAL OBLIGATIONS PAPER Utilizing the AACN membership would continue to help improve my practice tremendously. It would allow me to have a constant reminder of their mission, vision, and values and bring that forward with each and every patient. The tremendous amounts of research and articles they provide will help me to expand my horizons and open my practice in ways I couldn’t see or comprehend before. The privilege to attend any of their conferences or events will allow me to meet others practioners with the same desire and passion as I have to Critical-Care Nursing and be able to have impeccable conversations and share stories that could further the association and improve patient care. The ability to connect with other people in your profession all round the world is priceless. It allows you to see what other hospitals, states, and even countries are doing in their health care and improve the system all around the world. One largely controversial issue that is most likely to affect my scope of practice in the next few years is the restrictions on my scope as an ACNP-AG. Every year our scope of practice is evolving but it has continued to be a controversial issue as to why we cannot expand our scope. Patients are now more likely to see a nurse practioner in hospitals and primary offices then the physician themselves. Due to the influx of NP’s within health care and taking over the majority of physician rolls it is said to believe that the scope of practice will expand more allowing us to have more autonomy and accountability on our patients.
