from one place to another by the driveaway or towaway methods; or 3) Allows movement of a motor vehicle by any person who is lawfully engaged in the business of transporting or delivering vehicles that are not the person’s own and vehicles of a type otherwise required to be registered, by the driveaway or towaway methods, from a point of manufacture, assembly or distribution or from the owner of the vehicles to a dealer or sales agent of a manufacturer or to any consignee designated by the shipper or consignor. Requires proof of ownership. MAINTENANCE PERMIT — Individual can operate an empty vehicle currently li- censed as a local commercial vehicle and its mounted equipment beyond the 50- mile licensed zone to or from a place of repair or maintenance, or place where the mounted equipment may be repaired or replaced. Permit is valid for 10 days from the date of issuance. Requires current registration receipt. TEMPORARY PERMIT — A Missouri resident or a non-resident who purchases a vehicle can operate the vehicle for 30 days from vehicle purchase date (regardless of the date the permit was issued) when no plates are available to transfer. Requires proof of ownership and valid safety inspection. TEMPORARY WATERCRAFT PERMIT — Allows a Missouri resident or a non- resident to operate a newly purchased watercraft on the waterways of Missouri. The permit is valid for 30 days from the date of issuance. Requires proof of ownership. TEMPORARY OUTBOARD MOTOR PERMIT — Allows a Missouri resident or a non- resident to operate a newly purchased outboard motor on the waterways of Missouri.
