The lower excise taxes may not be permanent, and they must prepare for the possibility that the
Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act may not become permanent in 2019.
Being
an active voice in favor of making the reform permanent or advocating for more reform is
important for a craft brewery the size of Boston Beer Company.
The company must address the social factor of consumer attitudes and opinions.
Though
they swing in favor of the craft beer industry as previously discussed, influencing society to
perceive craft beer as the superior beer is important to continue the popularity and sales.
The company must address the technology factor of cybersecurity.
As previously
discussed, a cyberattack on the company could not only cost the company a great deal of
company but it could also cause a loss in consumer trust if information is compromised.
The
best way to address this is to continuously assess the quality of the cybersecurity used, and look
into expanding their IT department or hiring an outside company that is reputable to protect their
technology.
Readiness
Based on external factors, Boston Beer Company is ready to compete in their market
domain.
This is largely based on the company’s current financial standing with no debt, plans to
expand products to a larger consumer base, and ability to continue to acquire smaller popular

The company is also the second largest craft
brewer, which puts them at an advantage over smaller brewers (Brewers Association, 2019).
In
areas that craft breweries will face a crisis or setback, the company can overcome with their
financial resources.
