The impact that would have had on our school and our soccer program was enormous and we wanted to have that impact . Results-Driven Structure The strengths of our structure tended to outweigh what weaknesses we had . For the most part, roles were clearly assigned amongst our team . You were given a position that you learned the ins and outs of and you were accountable for the decisions you made while playing that position . There was a captain for every third of the field, one defender, one midfielder, and one striker . Our weakness in this portion of our structure was the ambiguity of the weaker players . They’re roles on the team were not as clearly defined, and they became more utility players than position players, making it hard for them to really be a defined part of the team . There was a large emphasis on communication amongst players . We often did keep-away exercises to help build our on-field communication abilities . Along the same line of thought, our coaches were very effective in their communication with the players; not only was feedback given, but it was given immediately . Unfortunately, the communication from players to coaches was not nearly as effective . Shane had the final say, and no one was willing to challenge it . Competent Team Members The competency of the members of our team was something that was never in question at any point in the season . Technically we were all very talented players . Our strongest players were some of the best I’ve ever seen . Seven or eight of our team members were being recruited by colleges at the time; of those, five currently play in college . Every member of the team had years of experience playing and had a fantastic knowledge of the game . We were able to combat virtually every playing style that we faced . Beyond the technicality of the game, almost every member of the team possessed the personality traits that contribute to competent team members . We were very open in giving and receiving criticism from anyone on the field . We supported each other on and off the field . We were all close friends which made everyone very approachable . If there was an issue that needed to be taken care of it was not a problem to pull someone aside and work out whatever was going on . In general, we had very limited butting of heads among the members of the team, including

Bourke the all-stars . We had full confidence in our abilities as a team which made our outlook very energetic and optimistic . Unified Commitment Our commitment as a team was one of the largest contributing factors to our ultimate failure in achieving our goal . At the start of the season our team spirit could not have been stronger . We were all ready and willing to do whatever it took to get us the state title and some team members did . One instance that sticks out was the season-ending ankle injury that our foremost defender suffered to prevent a goal that would’ve lost us the game .

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
