Neverthelessthere are also the core courses in finance as a basic part of the MBA degree, whichshould be taken seriously in a business context. The Zollverein School offered onlypostgraduate and doctoral programmes. That means that students at Zollverein Schoolhave already had some years of professional experience. They should also have a firstacademic degree even though the course of study for this degree is of less importance.The Zollverein School looks for diversity in the disciplinary backgrounds and actualprofessions of the students.Course Concept in General The interpenetration of management and design hasto be integrated in different types of courses. Within the lecture-type courses thereare joint courses taught by teachers with different backgrounds. So, for example, theprofessors of strategic marketing and culture/society offer some lectures together anddiscuss the relationship between actual cultural studies and strategy formulation.Inseminar-type courses (like the one on innovation) the students have to apply theoreticalfindings to real case studies. Such case studies would involve looking at the innovationlevel of the companies they are working for (or running themselves) and to comeup with some ideas how to improve this innovation level.
