Florida Hospital Tampa waiting for beds. This is so they can make a plan for the day and night. Next we met with Ligi’s boss, June. She is the director of the critical units in the hospital. During this meeting there was all the managers from the PCU units to discuss staffing. They discussed how many more RNs, and techs were needed per unit to be staffed up to matrix, and making sure the schedules are balanced. June had stated that they needed to make sure that the days are better balanced. For example, there were days where there were 4-5 nurses on and then 7 or 8 nurses on the next day. She wanted those units to make phone calls to nurses to see about switching days to make the schedule better and balanced. I believe that I have the shared leadership style. I want input from staff to know what works better, what does not work and what changes we should make to help the unit run smoother. Ligi’s has the leadership styles of transformational and shared. She wants the input of staff and cares what they think. She also wants to motivate them to make the unit a place others want to work and hospital as a whole a place patients want to come. The hospital wants the same things. In time I would like to be a manager, but I believe I have some areas I need to improve on before I make that commitment. I do like to have those hard conversations with staff members when
