you can adjust to external factors. I am very good at managing stress and adjusting to tricky situations to get things done, I do recognize however that this is how I operate, and this may not be the case for most people I interact with. Keeping this in mind I am able to go into situations without pre-conceived notions, biases and unfair perceptions of others and this helps me respect others and avoid conflict. Organizational Culture In my last discussion post I spoke about the organizational culture of Starbucks and how they built their world-renowned brand through having a strong positive organizational culture. Organizational culture is what the employees subscribe to and keeps everyone working with the best intentions of the company at heart. A strong organizational culture is characterized by the beliefs and values manifested in the core of the workplace. At Starbucks the organizational culture is to bring positivity to make Starbucks a third place for customers and employees. In my discussion I discussed the organizational culture of Starbucks started with the CEO of Starbucks and his desire to respect people. They maintain the culture through hiring people who see their vision and act accordingly. Skills Looking at the skills for mastery wheel presented in class I have identified myself as an analyzer. In class discussion we identified all the skills we see we ourselves best at and personally my best skills are planning, organizing, controlling and goal setting, placing most of my skills in the analyzer section. By identifying our section, I was able to see what leadership role I would be best suited in and what I prioritize in work, which is efficiency. Identifying skills so early in the semester helped especially when it came to group work, as everyone was able to identify what they were able to effectively bring to the team so that we could maximize our potential. Leadership Leaders can define the success or failure of a company. An effective leader cannot be defined traditionally but instead through their effectiveness in the given situation. There are different leaders some controlling and authoritative and some kind and value connection. There is no right way to lead in general but as I learned

in there is a best style of leadership for each situation. The challenge is to find the right leader to fit the criteria. During the class presentations a few groups presented on leaders who were not effective in their roles. Miranda in the Devil wears Prada and Jules Ostin in the Intern are two leaders that were presented as ineffective in their jobs. Both team’s solution centered around finding a way to put the right leader in a position of power whether it be through training that specific leader or hiring a completely new leader.
