The approach I took to writing my personal narrative was to state the adventure my mom went through of misdiagnosis then flashback throughout my life and how it impacted myself. I incorporated her voice towards the end of the paper as if she were talking about all the frustration she had been dealing with over the past seven years. The one thing I loved about Abby’s paper was how she incorporated the voice of her father and how he lost his job. She began the first few paragraphs as if it were her father speaking to give a background of what was going on. The main struggle I had while writing my paper was how I was going to incorporate my mother’s voice. Reading Abby’s paper made me wish that I took that the same approach as she did. I started my paper with talking about the misdiagnosis of my mother, which could have been a perfect

opportunity to write it as if it were her speaking the whole time. With only including a small portion of my mom’s voice I could have taken it so much farther now that I think about it. I could have added more of her thoughts and feelings and provide how it was a struggle for my entire family rather than just the two of us. Considering I have a father and sister as well, I should have incorporated their voice and struggles as well.
