Step 2: Professional Development Goals Use the space below to write a statement identifying your professional development goals. My goals for my nursing career are to complete my MSN degree. I plan on working hard with Walden University to complete my studies and obtain a 4.0 in all my classes. After I finish this part of my education goal, I plan on working towards achieving a position with nursing education at the VA hospital. I want to use my knowledge and experience to help develop other nurses’ skill and confidence. I want to guide them in the direction of their goals. My long-term goal is to enroll in Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program and become certified as an ARNP. I desire to continue working with our veterans and helping them overcome and manage their mental health issues. Step 3: Alignment with Social Change Use the space below to write a statement proposing how you might align one or more of your professional development goals with the University’s emphasis on social change. As a recent graduate of high school, I had eagerly signed up for the military with a friend with high hopes of serving our country with some of the strongest and bravest people out there. This goal was not achieved because of life events that prevented me from completing them. I was, and I am determined to now take a different angle on serving my country. I will care for our veterans by attending to their medical and emotional needs as my professional career.
I plan on completing my Masters’ education by staying focused on my long-term goal. I plan on completing all my classes with Walden University with a 4.0 by staying organized with my classes and assignments. I have a strong passion for working with our country’s veterans and the mentally ill. With my current education and nursing experience, I have had the honor to be a part of the working partnership at my local VA hospital and caring for the medical needs of our veterans. I wish to make a difference in their lives. I want to be the reason they have a better chance and outlook on their own lives. Education is the foundation of nursing. I will continue education after my Masters’ degree has been finished so that I may better myself to ensure the best care for my patients.
