Beside working around the clock to ensure the health and wellbeing of all people, the Center for Disease Control & Prevention has five areas that they invest in to address sustainability, they are Sustainable Facilities, Wellness Culture, Go Green Get Healthy Culture, Partnerships & Reporting. Facilities - CDC builds and maintains facilities that minimize environmental impact and optimize inhabitant wellness. Wellness culture - A positive wellness culture in the workplace contributes to the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of workers, allowing for more efficient operations. Go Green – The CDC knows how important the environment is, as well as how important their employee’s wellbeing, they focus on green work environment as well as recycling efforts. CDC features monthly Sustainability Stars who embody and enact CDC’s sustainability mission including activities such as active commutes, recycling, and environmental leadership. Evaluation of the organization’s brand and its ability to mobilize sustainability efforts in the community The Center for Disease Control & Prevention has a manual “Partnering4Health Approaches to Sustaining - Healthy Communities:” This resource is a Toolkit for Supporting Policy, Systems, and Environmental (PSE) Change Initiatives.”

SUSTAINABILITY AUDIT (FIRST DRAFT) WEEK 4 5 Public image Not only is the Center for Disease Control & Prevention a known brand, but they also provide tools and resources for other companies to use for communication and prevention. Community relationships One of the biggest challenges in environmental health is conveying the basic concepts of the environment, toxicology, and health. To help overcome this problem, Agency for Toxic Substance & Disease Registry (ATSDR) has created Promoting Environmental Health in Communities (PEHC), which includes talking points and power point presentations. PEHC is designed to assist professionals deliver information to specific populations.
