According to Ferraro & Briody (2016), the metaphoric analysis is an alternative method to the dimensional approach. The dimensional approach is very rigid and cultures are at either one end of the spectrum or the other with little in the areas in between. Metaphoric analysis fills in the gray areas where some cultures actually reside (p. 56-57).Metaphoric analysis can be used in a large number of ways, but it can be particularly important to a company an aviation company seeking global expansion. The use of the dimensional approach for culture classification can leave out a lot of minor details and not give an accurate representation of the whole culture. Metaphoric analysis allows aviation companies to take a detailed look into a specific culture. To be even more specific, companies can use cultural metaphors used specifically for the aviation industry. This would give an international aviation operation to not only gain an understanding of a proposed culture of interest but also an understanding of the aviation industrial culture too.
