decide to save who I want or help who I want because then I wouldn't be doing my job. Ethical responsibility, integrity, and safety are my goals as a law enforcement officer. Changing Views: Over the years society's changing views of acceptable behavior for officers has changed. If we go back to the 60s when it was ok to commit police brutality especially on minorities. To the 2000s when New York made it ok to stop and frisk anyone, anytime, anywhere, no probable cause needed. Now here we are in 2018 and everything is considered wrong, Officers using what they learned in training as a way to defend themselves from harm can also be seen as police brutality. A lot of movements such as Black Lives Matter and Stand Up have made it extremely hard for the officers who actually just want to do their jobs hard defend themselves. These days society are extremely harsh on officers. In no way am I defending police brutality. References: Ethical Theory. (2011). Retrieved February 12, 2018, from Roles of an Officer. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
