There are multiple eateries, both fast-food and sit-down, boutiques as well as chain store retailers, and large grocery stores in addition to small marketplaces. ● Transportation How to people get from one place to another? Is public transportation available? How timely is it? Personal autos? Bikes? Walking ? Travel in this community could be done in a variety of ways. Although personal autos seem to make up the majority of transportation, public transit is available as well. Buses seem to run in a timely manner, ad from experience, the trains that run in this community are extremely punctual. 4

When traveling thorough the community, it is not uncommon to see bicyclists and pedestrians, as well. People Make sure you address fully what you observed and NOTE if something was not found within your community area. ● Race and Ethnicity What is the majority racial group represented? What is the majority ethnic group represented? Describe the distribution of gender, approximate ages, single families, multiple families, generational families ? The majority racial group represented in Caucasian. Although other racial groups are present, such as East Indian, African-American, Hispanic, Asian and Middle-Eastern, the majority remains Caucasian. Mission Viejo and Ladera Ranch seem to have a strong emphasis on family, based on the community offerings and hangouts. Because of this there is an equal distribution of both genders and all age ranges. Primarily in Mission Viejo, there are older families, some of which may be multi-generational, whereas in Ladera Ranch, there are newer and younger families, usually single-family, with children under the age of 10. ● Cultural Characteristics What cultural similarities or differences do you observe? Languages spoken? Clothing? Ethnic eating places? Culturally- based celebrations? Signs in languages other than English ? The primary language spoken is English, but another language that is very prevalent is Spanish. This community offers many different ethnic eating places and I would argue it is culturally diverse. There are no road signs in other languages other than English, but Hispanic-based caballero lifestyles are celebrated yearly with rodeos and other festivities. ● Lifestyle Healthy Behaviors What healthy lifestyle behaviors do you observe? Do you see people exercising, wearing helmets when biking, seat belt usage, using trash cans for garbage disposal, healthy eating practices ? There are many people exercising: from bicycling to running and walking. Bicyclists wear helmets and passengers and drivers alike utilize their seatbelts. There are healthy eating options available for the people of this community, but fast-food options are available as well.
