patients who are victims of domestic violence or homelessness to this shelter and to be able to volunteer my services for health screenings or other needs to this shelter. As a community nurse I could also go to the shelter and provide education on many things such as healthy eating habits, nutrition, exercise, and practicing good hygiene with the children.ReferenceAbout. As a nurse we sometimes are the only ones that can get our patients to open up about some hard topics they may be facing in life. It is amazing how you can inspire these women to get out of these difficult situations and tell your story as well. They find strength through you and Martha's Home. This establishment provides services to the homeless in Schuykill County, PA. I chose this agency because I feel that the homeless population as a whole, is often neglected and in a sense, forgotten about. Many people do not realize that many of these homeless men and women are in their current situation as a result of domestic violence, mental illness or poor life choices, and they do not want to be homeless, but do not know where to turn to for help. Many of the people in the homeless population were not always homeless and many do not know how to get out of their current situation. An agency such as Servants to All, helps provide services and resources to help the homeless start to piece their lives back together andeventually get off of the streets.Brief history and mission of the agency:The agency Servants to All, is also known as “My Father’s House”. This establishment is located in the heart of Pottsville, PA on 4 South Centre Street. Servants to All is, “ a safe and caring environment that serves Schuylkill County by providing emergency housing, material goods, and supportive services to homeless men and women striving to obtain sustainable independence” (About Us | Servants to All-mfh, n.d., para. 1). The mission of Servants to All is, “to break the cycle of repeat homelessness by strengthening the individual’s internal mechanisms related to positive life choices, and by building bridges to sustainable independence” (Vision | Servants to All-mfh, n.d., para. 1).
