()The 13thAmendment was the focus of the president’s efforts in January 1865. He wanted to add the 13thAmendment to the United States Constitution. It had to be passed by the United States House of Representatives and he hoped would finally end slavery in the country.He needs to pass the 13thAmendment by the end of January, thus removing any possibility that slaves who have already been freed may be re-enslaved. The “radical republicans” feared that the amendment will get be defeated by some who wish to delay the passing of it. Abraham Lincoln was not only the president of the United States but he was a father and a husband. He married Mary Todd and had had 4 children. Robert, Eddie, Willie, and Tad. His 3rdchild Willie died due to the Typhoid Fever after he became very ill. It was a tragic thing that happened but that never stopped Lincoln from pursuing his hopes and dreams for his country. In April 1865, with the union on the brink victory, Abraham Lincoln was shot and killed by the confederal sympathizer John Wilkes Booth at a play at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C. His death was very tragic for everyone. His death made him a martyr
