Point to point protocol(PPP) - enables communication and data transfer between two points or nodes. Encryption- used to ensure the privacy of the content being communicated. Switch – sends data traffic destination, connecting single networks in which no IP address is assigned. Circuit switching - Fixed packet size and rates of transmission where information is being transmitted in a virtual circuit such as voice communication . Telecommunication Network Components and Functions Network Host - a computer connected to data terminal equipment in computer networking hardware. Internet Servicing provider(ISP) – provider of internet connectivity packet analyzer/sniffer - used to monitor or log traffic on a network for troubleshooting or analysis. Router – a network device used to transfer information packets to the destination. Core routers – a very powerful (and expensive). It is used to aggregate data and connect the enterprise to the internet in the backbone in order to handle large amounts of traffic. Edge router (AKA boundary router) transfers data packets between one or more LANs and an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network. Repeaters receive and retransmit data at higher power so it can travel over long distances. Repeaters strengthen or amplify signals for long transmissions. Network Features and Infrastructure Peer to Peer(P2P) - is created when two or more PCs are connected and share resources without going through a separate server computer. Host to host - communications occur on the transport layer on the same or different hosts, as well as on the local network or any network remotely connected through a router. Client server - A computer network in which one centralized, powerful computer (called the server ) is a hub to which many less powerful personal computers or workstations (called clients ) are connected.

Continued – Network management application – PC software tool that gathers and extracts data traffic from the network to ensure network performance is optimized. Small businesses with computer server needs should design their networks as client-server. Virtual network management applications are used to manage moves and changes more productively. Current Telecommunication TrendBits Analogy – pre-modern technology AKA Legacy designed to create continuous electronic waveforms, operating through POTS. Signals are continuous thefore, requiring circuit switch network. Digital – modern technology - Two fundamental elements that are used in modern networking infrastructure Packet transmission and TCP/IP TCP/IP Four abstraction layers: application, transport, internet, and network access.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
