Describe what took place on May 5, 1862. Today the French were finally defeated, after exhausting resources, and spilling blood. After France was done with paying loans to Mexico, the French appointed a relative of Napoleon III to rule Mexico. To assure this would happen, the French invaded the Gulf of Mexico and headed towards Mexico city. Suddenly The French were halted at the city of Pueblo, where 4,500 men led by General Ignacio Zaragosa bombarded 6.500 French men, and stopped the invasion of the Country. However, the feeling of victory did not stay for long, for as soon as Napoleon III heard of the Defeat, he sent many more men to Mexico.
