Database Selection Technology is becoming more and more important in the industry because it has become so advanced and saves time and money. The current paper based system needs to be replaced because it is old and outdated. The goal of this implementation system is to automate the data collection of the school system and store it in a centralized location with easy access for the students, teachers, parents, and administrators. After a thorough comparison of the DBMS systems that are currently available, this has led to the conclusion that MS SQL would be the most effective system for Birchwood Lane Schools. MS SQL has quite a few advantages that the school would be able to utilize such as the following:Compatible across different operating systemsEasy installationLow costCloud-readiness (Microsoft SQL, 2018)Compared to the other DBMS, MS SQL offers more flexibility for a growing system, which would be an advantage for the school if they want to add to the database. The primary keys are shown with the PK next to the following attributes; Student ID, Course ID, and Teacher ID. As shown, if the system was implemented at Birchwood Lane Schools, then it would sufficiently cover the information required by state and federal requirements. They would easily be able to adjust the system the way they want to. Overall, the implementation of this system would be fairly simple for the school and allow collection, storageand the ability to query data. Figure 14

IT 204 BIRCHWOOD LANE SCHOOLSImplementationIn order to ensure a proper implementation of the database system it is important that the staff has sufficient knowledge of said system. They truly only need to train certain personnel on how to use the system, such as principals, vice principals, support staff, and admins. That way they would be able to train anyone else that would need to use the system. Implementation of thissystem must include comprehensive training for all to ensure an easy transition between systems.MS SQL offers training and online support to ensure a smooth transition between systems (Microsoft SQL, 2018). Cost is also an important factor to consider, depending on the number of computers the school decides to grant access to the cost would be minimal at the price of $931 because it a volume licensing product. So the school would not have to purchase additional licenses but they still want to make sure they are only installing the database on pcs that absolutely require access.
