Unknown identification number- 23Cations found- mercury, lead (II)Present evidence proving the presence of listed cations1.Filtrate is colorless initially after adding chromate it turned a white cloudy yellow with some residue confirming presence of lead 2.Residue was a white powder and after adding NH3 it turned black confirming presence ofMercury. 3.Filtrate 2 was at first colorless, after adding nitric acid to the ammonia filtrate it gave off a white smoke but remained colorless after, this means no silver is present.
Post Lab Questions1.One way to perform this experiment a little bit more accurately would be to cool the liquid at a slower pace and measure the temperature a tad bit more accurately. One way todo this would be by putting a lid over the beaker. The lid over the beaker can make sure the heat leaves the beaker at a slower pace. Another change we could make to this experiment would be to use a Styrofoam cup which would help keep the heat in the beaker and in a more controlled environment. 2.79.46 degrees Celsius kg/mol
