needs to be able to fluently inform the other of its argument which can only occur if there are no language barriers to negotiations. Most foreign countries have seen the advancements in the global market and have taken the initiative to begin teaching the newer generations multiple foreign languages. They are quickly preparing their children for a multicultural community since they were young. Even though most Americans believe that English is the largest spoken language, this is false. Chinese (Mandarin) is spoken by over 1.3 billion people and Arabic is spoken by more than 400 million people (Stewart). While English is spoken by an estimated of 312-500 million people (Curtis). - 4 essential that troops be able to communicate with civilians on the ground or allied troops immediately to gain intelligence or to issue orders instead of going on a scavenger hunt for an English interpreter. On the other hand, China has become an immense contributor to the global economy. It will import capital-intensive manufactures, foodstuffs, and primary products including energy, given that it is relatively less well endowed in the capital, land and natural resources used intensively in the production of these goods”( Eichengreen). Because Europe and Asia have such a diverse set of languages in a small geographical area, there is a more pressing need for interpreters. The United States rarely had this need, but as the economy goes global, they are far behind Europe and Asia. Some reasons why Americans do not learn another language is laziness. Most Americans begin learning a foreign language during their high school years and most of them feel forced because it’ s required for college (Shank). Students barely grasp the importance of a foreign language and different cultures. Most students forget what they learned quickly after they are done with the course making the time they spent in class pointless. Another reason why Americans don’t learn another language is because some don’t have the funds to travel abroad or any reason to. This creates a lack of motivation because it makes learning another language useless. Learning a language is also extremely time consuming. It requires a lot of practice and memorization.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
