This quote reflects that violent video games are demolishingthe pure childhood of a child and replacing their mindset with reinforced violence. ‘Socialization is taken away from a child in which a form of isolation occurs, due to video game usage. When a child is given a new game, the first thought in their mind is to play it, in which nothing else matters at that point. An example of this particular situation would be the day
that my brother was given a new xbox and the game Call of Duty, for his birthday. After he opened the video game, he lost interest in the rest of his presents and immediately began to play. My family and I did not see my brother until the next morning, because he was mentally stuck in the game. Within the article it stated “In surveys about 80 percent of high school- age boys say they play video games, most of which are thought to be violent, and perhaps a third to half of those players have had a habit of 10 hours a week or more” (Carey 2). This identifies that video games overthrow socialization and communication with others.
