(CWV-101 Lecture 2.)Genesis 3 tells the story of The Fall. It introduces the serpent, Satan, who makes Eve question God’s commands. Unfortunately, Eve failed to adhere to God’s command for not eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. She fell to the temptation of Satan when he accused God of not giving them what they should be able to have. Since Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they brought sin into the world. Adam and Eve’s fall introduced pain and death to humanity. Genesis 3:14-19 details what God said about Adam and Eve’s disobedience. God ruled that woman so multiply pain and childbearing and that man will work hard and be in pain every day of his life. He goes on to say that you shall “return to the ground, for out of it you are taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” (Bible - ESV, Genesis 3)2
JesusThere are many biblical accounts of Jesus Christ during his time on earth. The Four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John all tell of the life and work of Jesus Christ. These biblical accounts of Jesus’s life influence a Christian’s understanding of him. Most of the stories in the Bible about Jesus’s life concentrate on his adult work. During his time on earth, Jesus was referred to as the Messiah. He was a leader and a teacher and worked hard to help those who were not in line with God’s teachings. Jesus taught to sinners and outsiders and the corrupt because he didn’t feel that those who already believe needed help believing. Jesus was held on trial, sentenced to death and he was made to bear the cross for miles until he was finally crucified to the cross. His body was entombed, but days later when people went to check on him his body was gone, only his close remained. Jesus died on the cross to atone for sin from man and give everlasting life to those who believe.Jesus is God and man at the same time. Jesus is God on earth. He was put on earth to show humans how to live and be a role model for what God tries to teach us. God loved us so much that he came to earth and sacrificed himself so that we will have a chance at being with him forever in heaven. Jesus is a teacher. He uses every opportunity to teach a lesson, be it at the dinner table with the sinners or meeting a rich man on the side of the road. He uses his entire life to teach others how to live per the word of God. (Bible - ESV) Jesus is humble. He doesn’t want to be served by others. He doesn’t want fancy clothing and money. He wants to serve others as they should serve the lord. (Bible - ESV, Matthew 20:28) Jesus is content showing others how to life and serve. He is content with what he has, he doesn’t go searching for more. Jesus is faithful. Jesus trusts in God’s word more than once during his life. Jesus has blind faith in his father that hewill lead him in the right direction, give him the right words to use, and do the right thing to show3
humans that God exists. Jesus is love. Jesus shows us how to love unconditionally and coexist with others the way that God wants us to.
