tells the audience exactly what the theme of the movie is. And he puts it quite succinctly, “You know what? Fuck beauty contests. Life is one fucking beauty contest after another. School, then college, then work… Fuck that. And fuck the Air Force Academy. If I want to fly, I’ll find a way to fly. You do what you love, and fuck the rest.” This is the message that every character in the movie needs to see and also what every person watching should hear. The father starts out thinking that the only thing that matters is winning, but after everything goes wrong, he finally realizes that winning is not what matters. Frank, as well, comes to terms with all the things that happened to him in the past. Dwayne renews his determination to become a jet pilot. It does not matter that he is color blind, he will find a way to make it work. He will work for this dream harder than he was before. And Olive does exactly what Dwayne says. Even though she is, in fact, participating in a a beauty contest, she is also not the normal competitor. She does not fit in with that crowd, but it is what she loves to do and she goes for it anyway. And, if we are to listen to Dwayne, that is what life is all about. Do exactly what you want to do and it does not matter what other people think.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
