company's expansion, it's inevitable that costs will increase, but with systems enhancements, it will certainly keep those costs from getting out of hand.ThreatsFirst, cyber infections could severely cripple the company. With the weak wirelesssecurity topped off with no conversation about backup methods if a breach does occur, itmakes the company have a huge threat for viruses. Two potential threats dealing that the company could face are encryption and network viruses. An encryption virus uses malicious code that makes anti-virus software hard to detect. The only way they can be detected is if they decrypt themselves. Network viruses spread through a LAN and into major components like drives, folders, and shared resources. Because these viruses are hard to detect, the company may not even know they’re infected until it’s too late. Second, having to retrain all over again. Though the staff is experienced and havewell-seasoned veterans, humans are still humans. Upgrading and expanding means that the staff has to learn new technologies, ways to protect data, and area’s they may not betoo experienced in. In the world of IT, there are many components of it and no one knowseverything. As hackers look for new exploits, it forces ethical hackers to increase their knowledge span. With the entire IT department having to learn new technologies means
there could be certain holes in their learning. They will be looking at new software or upgrades for the first time. Making them a novice on protecting the new profound knowledge. No one can be good in one day, thus making exploitations exceedingly high.Leveraging Current StrengthsFirst, with the expansions of database servers being placed in multiple locations, Iwould leverage this by adding two CPUs to each database server. Database servers oftenrely on baseload machines and need to running smoothly and efficiently. What adding two CPU's does is make the host the most responsive. To piggyback on the CPUs leverage, databases use a lot of disk space and often more than what the actual data requires itself. Making sure each database server has plenty of disk space, CPUs, and dedicated hard drives should keep disk fragmentation at a minimum.Second, with the IT infrastructure system upgrade as a whole, one way I would leverage this is by researching and developing the best technologies to implement. This will allow for each component of the IT infrastructure to run more efficiently. Costs would significantly drop in no time and more robust software can be enhanced to develop new products, better maintenance, overall security. This could better aid the company's offering to exist customers and making future projects the having all the resources they need and while keeping costs at a minimum.
