They are re green or orange as long as they have

they are re green or orange, as long as they have xanthophylls, they have the potential to become  yellow leaves. The same is true if they contain anthocyanin, carotenes, or chlorophyll a, and are colors  besides the one that that pigment presents. For example, in the fall, during foliage, the reason that the  change of color occurs in most leaves is that chlorophyll weakens and breaks down, allowing other  pigments to peer through the chlorophyll and show their colors. However, when the leaves grow back  in the spring, chlorophyll is the dominant pigment in the leaf, so it suppresses all the other pigments.  Using the information in this lab, we can apply in daily lives. When we see a green leaf, an orange  leaf, or a red leaf, we can safely assume the dominant pigment in that certain leaf. For example, if  there is a dominantly red leaf, we can assume that the red areas’ cells are mostly anthocyanin  pigmented cells, and orange ones contain more carotenoids.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
