Instructions for candidates
Your work performance will be documented using either an Observation Checklist.
The Observation is an
important part of the assessment process and you must complete it satisfactorily in order to fulfill the
unit’s requirements.
You may be observed in a workplace that is your place of employment, or in a work-placement situation.
In either case, the situation must reflect a real workplace and real workplace conditions.
Preparing for the Observation:
It is important to plan the observation.
We recommend the following steps:
Step 1.
Refer to the Observer’s Checklist and familiarise yourself with the tasks that you will be
being observed.
Familiarise yourself with the resource requirements.
Step 2.
Identify a suitable Observer and ask if they will agree to act as your Observer.
Step 3.
Create a plan of activities over a suitable period of time that will enable you to
demonstrate all items on the Observer Checklist.
You may choose to include the template
below, and amend it to suit your own requirements.
Step 4.
Review your plan with your Observer, and make any changes that are required.
Once
agreed, you and your Observer may both sign the Plan.
Step 5.
Implement your Plan.
Step 6.
Submit the completed Plan with your completed Observer Checklist.
