A network operating system (NOS) is a software program that controls other software and hardware that runs on a network. Examples of network operating systems include UNIX, Windows Server, and Netware. Most individual computer users run client operating systems, such as Windows or Mac OS, which run on a single computer. This is a practical task that requires installation of Network Operating System as well as Client Operating System, and basic optimisation. You will be provided with copies of the required software for installation on test machines. A LAN will also be set up for this task. This task must be completed in the presence of your trainer/assessor. Using the instructions provided; Task : Research and refer to installation instructions for appropriate software and; A. Evaluate the software to ensure that it meets the organisational and technical requirements B. Determine boot option (e.g. USB, disk, safe mode etc.) C.
