Sometimes when people are mourning, it is hard to remember what is actually going on around them. In this case, Reagan has to remind the nation that those five astronauts and two payload specialists were doing their job. They were doing what they were doing because they wanted to. They made a huge sacrifice and he addressed the fact that they were prepared to make these sacrifices to serve the nation. “We’ve grown used to the idea of space, and perhaps we forget that we’ve only just begun. We’re still pioneers. They, the members of the Challenger crew, were pioneers” (Paragraph 5). He uses that to let the people know that this is a small hiccup in the program and that the idea of space may seem normal, but in reality, the journey has only just begun. He assures the people that the journey will go on what happened to the shuttle will not diminish the space program. “There will be more shuttle flights and more shuttle crews and, yes, more volunteers, more civilians, more teachers in space. Nothing ends here; our hopes and journeys continue (Paragraph 8). He uses logos to assure the nation that the journey will continue and he uses his natural communication skills to inform the nation of what is really happening around them and how they will continue to grow the space program.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
