The main advantage that my company will have is the fact that we are an underserved market. I think one of the best things that the company can do is to become aligned with a wedding venue. There are a few in the area, and if we became the main cake distributor for a venue or a few venues, then we would have a lot better chance of people choosing our company instead of the competition. For example, if we get involved with a venue in the area, and the customer chooses them as a venue, the venue will then suggest that the customers use us for their

cake. With these wedding cakes along with smaller birthday cakes, we will easily have plenty of business to be successful, and our quality will bring back repeat customers. Baker’s Dozen Bakery will be a custom cake shop in the town of Dracut, MA. I am looking to get into business with my Fiancée and her aunt, whom are both great bakers also, and currently make cakes for friends and family. I am looking to centralize this business and bring it all together and make it expand to many more customers. According to, which has details on a lot of the bakery industry, states that there are about 2,800 commercial bakeries, that have an annual revenue of $30 billion, and 6,700 retail bakeries that have an annual revenue of $3 billion. In the area that I want to open my bakery, there are only 2 retail bakeries, along with a few supermarkets that also make custom cakes, totaling about 10 in the area that sell the same products that I am trying to sell. The revenue in this industry is expected to grow in the next 5 years to about $39.9 billion, or an increase of about 0.6%. Also, imports in this industry will continue to grow at an annualized rate of 7.1% and exports to other countries ordering these products will grow by 9.8% per year over the next five years.
