Therefore, the actual circumstances of a diversified workforce arenot applicable as it seems to be in most of the organizations around the world. Furthermore,ethnic and cultural differences also require the organizational personnel to involve ininterpersonal conflicts that arise within the workforces due to variety of opinion, thought,beliefs, tradition, norms, customs, values, and trends that an organization have.In dealing with the ongoing global crisis, the Covid-19 pandemic, organization, aswell as human resource management, needs to be an inclusive leader as employee health andsafety must be the foremost consideration during this viral spread. Therefore, theorganization’s greatest challenge is to analyze every problem differently and understand theneeds of each employee seeks. Organizing and managing such workforces require propermanagement skills that can motivate, unify, and coordinate all the workforces to worktogether effectively and efficiently to achieve the organization’s goals.8
2.3.3 GENERATION GAPAge is another important element that exists in the diversity of the workforce.Generational diversity means having people reflected in the work of a wide range of differentages. According to Strauss and Howe, there are five generations which can be categorized:Veterans the adaptive generation (1925-1942); Baby Boomer generation the realisticgeneration (born 1943-1960); Generation X the reactionary generation (born 1961-1981);Generation Y or Millennials the civic generation (born after 1982)13and Generation Z orPost-Millennium the adaptive generation (born after 2001).14 People of different agesgenerate different perspectives and insights which will benefit the company. Nevertheless, itis not easy for any organization to benefit from the generation gap. Managers need to build acollaborative relationship between workers from different generations, study the employees,and create opportunities from cross-generational mentoring. Relating this issue with thecovid-19 pandemic, each generation faces miscellaneous challenges. For example, BabyBoomers need to delay their retirement due to a lack of financial source and the increase inthe cost of living. This will greatly affect Generation X and the Millennials who will facedifficulties in finding jobs in the midst of this pandemic.2.3.4 PHYSICAL OR MENTAL DISABILITIESDisability refers to a physical or mental injury suffers by a person. Disability canresult in considerable and long-term adverse effects on the individual’s capacity to implementthe day-to-day routine and activities due to challenges or limitations that may occur though it
