because the research question was looking for the differences amongst the average number ofbreaches, which is a continuous variable and the parole conditions are considered to be a categorical variable. The assumption of normality was upheld due to being normally distributed, the equal variance assumption was also upheld due to there being no considerabledistinctions amid the variances. Therefore, Levene’s test was necessary and homogeneity waspresumed.
ELECTRONIC MONITORING 2Results Data from this study produced results confirming that there is a difference between GPS parole and Traditional parole (t(394) = 9.90, p < .001). The mean for traditional parole was 7.52 (SD= 2.03), and the mean for GPS parole was 5.50 (SD= 2.02). The immensity of the difference in means was 2.02 (95% CI [1.60, 2.42]) breaches (d = 1.00). Due to the significant results, this data indicates that GPS parole has fewer violations than traditional parole conditions and if parolees are monitored by way of GPS this may be an adequate method in reducing parole breaches.
