Financial costs of obesity can have a significant impact on communities. Work absenteeism is often associated with obesity and its complications. This costs approximately $4.3billion annually. Absenteeism causes less work productivity and is estimated to cost employers $506 per obese worker per year. Outreach and education programs can be funded via grants. However, obtaining grant funding can be a tedious, difficult process. With the rate of obesity increasing, so do medical expenses. The need for communities to build more bariatric appropriate facilities will increase as the obese population increases. The committee would be responsible for promoting positive attitudes and behaviors that will improve the health, well-being and quality of life of the students and employees at TCAT Ripley. 3.Initiate a weight loss challenge program. This will be a 2-month challenge that measures body fat percentage lost, not pounds lost. It will be done on an individual basis. There will be an entry fee. The person who has lost the most at the end of the challenge will win the money generated from the entry fees.
