The same to a lesser extent is true for democrats following CNN or republicans following Fox. Democrats disregard what Fox news says or their supporters do as being “gun loving conservatives”, while on the other side Republicans find CNN to blow every story out of

In 1984 it is similar to the blind assumption held by the people of Oceania that they are always in the right. Another major difference that holds us from either society is our belief in the American Dream, where anyone can better their standing through hard work alone. This belief conforms to neither society. In more recent years the realization about manifest destiny not necessarily being true has spurred some debates and different opinions, especially in the area of how to manage the problem of mass poverty. However, overall the belief is still engrained into our thought processes. One area we are very close to mirroring in 1984 however is our treatment of veterans.
