access the properties of the Local Area Connection for the LAN NIC. This can be done through
Control Panel in Windows.
Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and then Properties. On the next screen, we can
set the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway for the host. In this example, we are
configuring the settings for Workstation #1.

Similar settings will be applied on the other seven workstations, and also the Windows Server
2003 (both NIC interfaces). Configuration on the printer will be done likewise through the
settings on the printer’s user interface.

the network
1. Insert the appropriate Windows Server 2008 installation media into your DVD drive. If you
don't have an installation DVD for Windows Server 2008, you can download one for free from
Microsoft's Windows 2008 Server Trial website.
2. Reboot the computer.
3. When prompted for an installation
language and other regional options, make your selection
and press Next.

4. Next, press Install
Now
to begin the installation process.
5. Product activation is now also identical with that found in Windows Vista. Enter your Product
ID in the next window, and if you want to automatically activate Windows the moment the
installation finishes, click Next.
