someone? What makes you say that it is latent and not manifest? You may find the information on manifest and latent functions in chapter 2 of "The practical skeptic: Core concepts," around page 35. 1. a.) I think the manifest function of being nice to someone is the reaction and appreciation the person shows to you after the interaction takes place. I think that is manifest and not latent because no one expects a reaction out of anger. It is most common and expected for someone to show gratitude whether they are truly thankful for it or not on the inside. It is almost a courtesy. The latent function of being nice to someone could be that person doing a nice deed in return or something nice for someone else later on. Without intending to start a chain reaction, someone could start one by doing a nice deed, causing the recipient’s happy mood to make them do a good deed for someone else. None of that could be predicted by the doer, and if it did happen after the doer had left, they would have no way of knowing. That is a latent function because it is unpredictable to the doer.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
