man under authority, with solders under me.” He also goes on to say that whatever he tells people to do, they do. The men who were sent by the centurion returned to the house and found the servant as well. b. Who was the audience for Luke’s gospel and in what way would this particular miracle be important to this audience? - Luke is writing his gospel for a more gentile audience, this means not Jewish people. The way that Luke writes his gospels are different, this causing both a political and social concern that we see in the way that the story is told, due to the fact that its writing for this extreme cultured kind of audience. This miracle is so important to this audience because it shows that Jesus, a Jew is helping a Gentile. With their being a good relationship between the elders and the Jewish population they are the ones that he sent to ask Jesus to come help his ill servant. Although Luke’s audience was mostly the Gentiles he wrote kind words in regard to the Jewish people. This is a miracle showing because one day Jews and Gentiles are all God’s children and can one day work together. c. Explain the importance of this message of the miracle today. - The importance of miracles today is very important. All the miracles that Jesus has written have some kind of significance. They really help show what kind of person Jesus is. The way that Jesus preforms these miracles shows that he is fully God in every aspect. The people identified Jesus as “a great prophet,” and that was something that he truly was. When Jesus preformed his miracles they were works of Divine Power, and God was the one who brought them about, not anyone else. These Miracles also help show that Jesus is fully human also. From the day Jesus stepped foot on this earth to the day of his death Jesus showed that he was just as fully a man as he was God. He is one person with not only one nature, but two. These two people being the divine nature and human nature. Finally, the miracles that he wrote help show that Jesus is truly the one and only Messiah.
