The Quality measure to be addressed will be an improvement of obtaining portable post- procedure x-rays by addressing the timeliness of each x-ray order, requiring that it be taken within 15 minutes of the orders being received. The factors driving this change include improved patient outcomes, improved patient discharge time and improved patient satisfaction The Patient safety outcome measure will be a reduction of patient falls by increasing the Fall Risk assessment intervals to every 15 minutes post procedure with anesthesia. The supporting factors driving this change is a decrease in the patient length of stay, a decrease in patient mortality & morbidity. Also, an increase in patient safety by identifying at-risk patients resulting in improved treatment outcomes. Unit specific shared governance will address the employee engagement outcome measure. The supporting factors driving this change are an increase in nurse retention and staff empowerment which will result in an increase in patient satisfaction as perceived by favorable HCAHPS. B1. Additional Indicators An additional performance indicator for a nurse leader is to monitor discharge times on a regular basis which would be an improvement in length of stay for improved patient satisfaction and better patient outcomes. The drivers will result in increased patient satisfaction with a timely discharge post procedure, adherence to individualized patient care plan resulting in increased HCAHPS for the facility and CMS reimbursement for services provided. Timely discharges can also improve the nurses work flow by ensuring availability of recovery bed space for patients coming back from procedures. C. Advantages of Performance Data Scorecard There are distinct advantages with using a performance data scorecard within a healthcare organization. First, the scorecard allows the organization to focus on strategies that facilitate, monitor, and assess the implementation of a strategic plan.
