dropped with the hope that it wouldn’t kill innocent people. The bomb was able to wipe out some countries and knowing this before hand the united states still dropped it. Keep in mind that this bombs power was greater than all of the bombs that the allies had dropped on Europe combined. The results of dropping a bomb like this on people is sickening. Many die from the radiation others from illness. And to top it all of the effects of dropping this bomb weren't quick. The effects of this bomb on Nagasaki and Hiroshima lasted for decades after. 3. Should the atomic bomb have been used on Japan? Why or why not? Support your claim with evidence from the lesson. I believe that the bomb should not have been used on Japan for several different reasons. The United States claimed that they were forced into using this bomb because Japan wouldn’t surrender, however there were also many other options that would have gotten the same result without killing millions of people. The atomic bomb ruined the two cities within seconds. I also believe that this made America look like a scary villain in the eyes of the other countries. Now the United States is feared by the world for good reason, they killed tons of innocent Japanese citizens all for something that they had nothing to do with. Using fire bombs for instance would have been able to get the same message across without killing as many as the atomic did. Overall I believe that the United States had the right idea in mind with bombing Japan but I feel like they could have done it in a nicer way.
