A CEO who is a risk taker, able to make decision, problem solve, change agent, and is result oriented is necessary for a product like mine. However, they also need to be able to have global experience, cross industry experience, operational knowledge, and multichannel expertise. A CEO who is able to be versatile and adjust to the demands of the market is huge considering the market can change quickly. Nike has a matrix structure. This matrix structure helps break down managerial responsibilities by region and product. This type of structure allows for regional managers to have some flexibility, but keep responsibilities in line. CEO must be market and customer focused at all times in order to delegate roles to managers within the company. The CEO must have a plan of attack and be able to hire the right talent for the position as well as trust their departments. By utilizing this matrix system in conjunction with follow budget guidelines Nike can test products and begin implementing marketing plans once they pass trials.
