Organizations An organization is an arrangement of people, pursing common goals, achieving results and standards of performance. Purposes of organizations: 1. Make items or goods to be sold: shirt factory, computer manufacturer, furniture maker. 2. Provide services to be sold: building societies, police, and insurance companies. Public, private and voluntary sectors Public sector Private sector Voluntary sector Are run by the government for the benefit of the general. To be set up in the interests of the community. To be funded wholly or partly by the government from public funds and are answerable to a government department or the Owned by individuals, not by the stat. To be set up for personal gain. To be funded by share issued, loans from banks, overdrafts etc. Can be described as non-profit driven, non-statutory, and autonomous. Run by individuals who do not get paid for running the organization. To be non-profit making organizations, dependent upon their members and supporters to survive.
