4. I could use this document to show the growing hate that the Creoles had
towards the Penensulares and their holding of government positions.
Document C Analysis:
1. Spain is restricting the Americanos’ property rights.
2. The Spanish government gets to decide Latin America produces and sells
and Creoles are forced to pay high prices for Spanish good.
3. Viscardo thinks that the Creoles should be in charge of the American
Economy.
4. Document C shows that the Creoles, or the Americanos, wanted to put an end
to Spanish Monopolies and unfair taxation in order to protect their economic
interest.
Document D Analysis:
1. The livestock died out and all of the crops were destroyed.
2. As a result of the drought, unemployment rate increased significantly.
3. I think that the mule trains that carried grains would be escorted by the
military in order to protect the food and to get it to go to the right place
because food is scarce.

4. Creole elites were threatened and capitalized on the social tensions by
demanding power and control of economics in 1809.
5. This document shows that the Creoles blamed Spain for dealing with the
drought the wrong way and shows that they believed they believed that they
could have dealt with the situation better if they ran the country themselves.
