Overview ● The Seven Years War was the first global conflict. o It had two main fronts. Europe, hostility between Prussia and Austria America colonial rivalries between Britain, France and Spain, the French and Indian War ● The French had colonies in Canada and Lousiana, o attempting to link them by taking control of the Ohio Valley. o This would have encircled the British colonies on the coast, and stopped any expansion on their part. o The war begin with conflict between the French in the Ohio Valley and the Virginians, led by George Washington, who was forced to withdraw by the French. o The British occupation of Canada was confirmed by the Treaty of Paris (1763).
Outcome ● In 1763, the Treaty of Paris was signed ending Anglo- French hostilities. o France's cession to Spain of Louisiana o Great Britain got the rest of New France o France returned Minorca to the British ● European boundaries were returned to normal by the Treaty of Hubertusburg ●
