I know the reaction that took place is exothermic because when the reaction was placed in the ice bath the absorbance went up indicating that it went to the products, this also indicated that the reaction was exothermic and not endothermic. 3. The effects of adding and removing reactants to and from the equilibrium mixture is that when adding Fe(NO 3 ) 3 it created more reactants and made more products. On the other hand when adding the EDTA to the solution it binded to the reaction making less reactants and therefore less products.

1 Evidence 1. La Chatelier’s Principle states that when a variable affecting the state of a system is changed, the equilibrium of the system will be modified so as to compensate for the change in the variable. I found that K c of this reaction at room temperature is 183.325 I found this by finding the concentrations the FeSCN 2+ , Fe 3+ , and SCN - . By finding this I was able to solve for the equilibrium constant, K c .
