Timeliness is important because things change by the minute and being on top of that change can be critical. Accuracy might seem obvious, but it takes different from where the most accurate form of information is difficult to obtain. As a result, extreme accuracy becomes a trade-off with timeliness which means that a timely answer is likely to be the better option. Completeness is what adds value since it includes all factors. In other words, itavoids bias. 1-4 The four critical compounds are people, technology, process, and data. It is people that design, develop and maintain these information systems which means that they have a very important role. In fact, people have many important roles. Some are developers' others are users. However, they are all important and without them, none of this would be possible. People themselves often don’t realize just how great their impact is on information systems. Technology is hardware, software, telecommunication and they together comprise the technology component of information systems. It is basically anything that is capable of connecting, processing, storing or displaying data. The software part of technology can be anything from code that is used to boot up computers to be used in

artificial intelligence. The telecommunication part of technology main role is moving electronic signals from one place to another. A process is a set of activities designed to achieve a task. An organization uses information systems to aid and streamline processes. The steps in any process are affected by thousands of decisions that we humans make, which in its turn impacts the way people look at process involvement. Data is raw facts that be presented in various different forms and shapes. A stopwatch reflecting time or thermometer reflecting temperature are both examples of how data can be presented through a medium. 1-5 They are important since they underline most of the activities within a business. In fact, it does not really matter what type of business it is since basically every workplace and industry uses emails, cell phones, and the internet. Within a marketing department, information systems are important since it creates an effective way to analyze return on investment for campaigns and help create marketing strategies. Within a human resource department, it can be used for online learning programs and for a small business owner it can help them set up their own website. 1-6 The function areas that are common to most information technology departments are help desks, systems administrations, enterprise systems, and application, as well as telecommunications and network services.
